Election 2012: #StayInLine

Welcome to Election Day 2012. We’re definitely in an age that is completely obsessed with social media, and that became ever so clear on this night.

With voting numbers slowly (and God do I mean ever so slowly) rolling in, and the race for U.S. President as tight as ever — that’s what she said — Twitter was abuzz with a brand new (sort of) hashtag urging people who were in line before their polling stations closed to remain there. #StayInLine went from an obscure phrase to a worldwide trend in seconds.

It’s clear that a lot of the Obama supporters, as they have been all election season, were the louder voice in the social media space. Either way, here are some of the highlights of the hashtag.

We’ll update this with more as they happen.
