We may be a little late to the party on this, but if you haven’t seen it, let us be the first to introduce you to the NBA’s fantastically, mind-blowing-ly awesome video promoting their Christmas Day uniforms.
Without ruining the fun of the video [watch it to see figure out what I mean], some of the Association’s finest come together to make a mini musical-production by simply dribbling a few basketballs. Dwight Howard, Carmelo Anthony, Joe Johnson, and Russell Westbrook show off their artistic side. Oh, Dwyane Wade is “featured” as well, but only contributes about six or seven dribbles to the show.
Beyond the performance, the uniforms themselves are actually pretty sweet. The solid colored uniforms are bold, and the outline lettering is subtle, but anymore would be too much. The only uniform that seemed off was the all-white one that Howard (a Laker) is wearing. Purple or yellow would have been the obvious choices here, but the team went with what I would think is their third color, if that. Still, the all-white is pretty slick looking.
Enough talk about the unis though. Watch the 31 second spot after the jump.
Pretty fantastic. I’d like to see a making-of video for this, or at least hear about how many takes they needed to get it right. And while it is awesome and mind-blowing, it’s not exactly an original concept. VW did something similar with a bunch of dogs barking to the tune of the Dark Empire, which they called the “Bark Empire.”
