Single Season Sports Records

When the media in your town makes a huge deal about your first win of the season–a win that came almost two months after the season started–you know you’re a pretty bad team. Unbelievably, though, the Washington Wizards tremendously pathetic 0-12 start to the season is not the worst in the sport’s history. That honor belongs to the 2009-10 New Jersey Nets who lost 18 games before cracking into the win column.

It got me thinking about other such streaks and records in other sports, and thanks to my excellent aggregation skills, and Wikipedia, here’s a list of some of the more interesting ones:

National Basketball Association

  • Best Record: 72-10, Chicago Bulls, 1995-96
  • Worst Record: 7-59, Charlotte Bobcats, 2011-12
